The Soslers

Morgiewicz Produce is just one of the many farm operations who’ve relied for years on Sosler’s Garden and Farm Equipment in New Hampton, NY. In fact, the Sosler family celebrates their 60th year in business in 2012, and they’ve been partnered with Massey Ferguson and its heritage brands since the very beginning.

“Massey is still our bread and butter, and the only farm equipment brand we’ve ever carried,” says Ray Sosler III, whose grandfather, Ray Sosler Sr., started the business in 1952 with his brother, William. They had purchased what was essentially an automotive repair garage, three plow trucks and two new Massey-Harris tractors (an MH22 and MH30). Ray Sosler Jr. bought the business from his father in 1989 and Ray III joined the operation a decade ago. The wives of both men work in the office, too.

“We sell more compact tractors today than in the past,” says Sosler III, explaining that there are fewer larger commercial farms but more niche operations and suburban acreages now. The fertile farming region in which Sosler’s is located is home to numerous produce, equine, orchard and vineyard operations. The dealership has also diversified over the years, expanding into lawn and garden equipment to serve the non-farming constituency.

That Massey Ferguson tractors deliver the goods for such a diverse clientele is only part of the Sosler success story. “A dealership is only as good as the parts and service it can provide,” says Sosler III. “We have over 100 years of combined service knowledge for the equipment we sell and we have tens of thousands of parts in stock to satisfy our customers’ needs. These are two points that really set us apart from just about any other dealership in our geographic area.”

In addition, the Soslers get to know their customers, as well as their equipment. “When a customer walks in with a question about one of their tractors,” says Sosler III, “we can quickly and accurately identify what model they have and how it’s configured.

“It’s an intimate working knowledge of the equipment and we pride ourselves on that,” Sosler III concludes. “That, combined with Massey quality and proper business management are what have helped us stay in business these past 60 years. We are a full-service dealership in every sense.”

“We provide equipment, parts and service to those who rely on these elements to make a living and literally feed their families,” says Ray Sosler Jr. “After 60 years in business, it’s not just a job for us, it has become a way of life.

“We take this responsibility very seriously,” he continues, “and we are very passionate about the commitment we have to each and every one of our valued customers. Supporting one another is a two-way street, and in today’s challenging economic times, we work together with our customer for mutual success.”
