The Cutting Edge
Massey Ferguson® introduces new WR Series windrowers.
From the day he became a commercial hay producer, Tommie McPherson has been running nothing but Hesston® and Hesston by Massey Ferguson Series windrowers. His current inventory includes 3 MF 9635 windrowers with Model 9192 Razorbar headers. However, because he trades in his fleet every year, the Maysville, Okla., farmer will likely be among the first to purchase the new Hesston by Massey Ferguson WR Series windrowers.
“Hesston machines have always had a good reputation,” McPherson says. “When you’ve got something that works well, you tend to stick with it. For me, these windrowers have always been easy to maintain, they hold their resale value and the company stands behind them when I have a problem.”
With a wide range of new features that promise increased comfort, performance and economy, the new WR Series certainly won’t leave McPherson disappointed. Rated at 220, 188 and 137 horsepower, respectively, the new 9770, 9760 and 9740 models each feature a deluxe cab, while the 137-hp 9735 and 100-hp 9725 feature a narrow cab.
“Our customers will also be amazed at how quiet and comfortable the cab has become,” says Dean Morrell, AGCO product marketing manager for hay and forage equipment. “These will, without a doubt, be among the most productive and operator-friendly windrowers we’ve ever offered.”
Among the amenities available:
—New higher-horsepower 4-and 6-cylinder AGCO Sisu Power diesel engines for more torque and capacity.
—The option of a 21-mph transport speed, via a larger variable-speed drive motor, on all deluxe cab models (9740, 9760 and 9770) for less time on the road. The WR9735 narrow cab is also available with a 21-mph option.
—Full-flex independent hydraulic header suspension for improved vertical and radial flotation in uneven fields.
—A redesigned, self-cleaning cooling package, which orients all cooling units in a “V” arrangement that eliminates stacking and airflow restrictions.
—New adjustment-free rear-wheel suspension option that provides a smoother ride in rough fields.
—New ISOBUS electronic software that provides electro-hydraulic control of machine functions for faster, smoother response.
—A new high-back, air-ride seat with the option of semi-active suspension, as well as heating and cooling, for more comfort during long days.
—New cab and control features, including a virtual terminal, fuel economy monitor, performance monitor with header pressure and adjustable steering sensitivity.
—An auto-steer-ready electronic system that allows for plug-and-play, GPS-guided steering up to 16 mph.
