Working fields up to 25 miles apart in southeast Colorado makes timing all the more critical to Rex Reyher’s RCR Farms. Reyher needs to move quickly and efficiently. To help do so, he relies on a trio of Massey Ferguson® and Hesston® tools.

Alfalfa is a major crop for Reyher and his family, and his Hesston by Massey Ferguson® WR9870 windrower allows Reyher to get from one farm to another when it’s optimum cutting time. “You couldn’t get me into another machine,” he says. “The productivity with that swather is terrific, and the advancements they’ve made in the GPS system with Auto-Guide™ is top-notch.”

The baler Reyher uses is a Hesston by Massey Ferguson 2270 (3 feet x 4 feet). “You couldn’t get any better machine for this job,” he says. “Not another brand works like that one.” The baler is pulled with a 200-HP Massey Ferguson 7720 tractor, which Reyher says has “great torque, and it really does a good job on fuel mileage.”

“The tractor is dual-purpose,” says Randy Witt, sales manager for AGCO® dealer H. Manning Co., with whom Reyher does business. “That tractor goes from the baler to pulling Sunflower® tillage equipment. In this area, when farmers buy something, it has to be universal—able to be used for multiple jobs.”

Reyher has recently doubled the size of the acreage he farms, and Witt says he admires that ability to expand, especially in challenging times. “He’s willing to roll the dice and get after it,” says Witt of Reyher. “He’s very conscientious and always looking for ways to improve, and it is a pleasure to do business with him.”
