Massey Ferguson Introduces 4600M Series Tractors

With new features and a new cab option, the latest 4600M Series tractors are even better suited to year-round performance.

Massey Ferguson® 4600 Series tractors have quickly become a favorite for utility applications. Now, however, with the introduction of the 4600M Series, which consists of three new models, Massey Ferguson has made them even more versatile with the addition of new options and standard features, as well as compliance with new emissions standards.

One of the first things customers will appreciate is an improved Deluxe cab option that boasts even more features for comfort and convenience. Among them are a rear wiper and defrost, fender-mounted 3-point-hitch controls, an air-ride seat, a front sun visor, and long-lasting and super-bright LED lights. Those who need a utility tractor for loader work will also appreciate a loader-ready package that includes frame rails, joystick control and grill guard. Both the Standard and Deluxe cabs will also come radio-ready, with speakers and antennae.

“The new Deluxe cab further enhances comfort and visibility in all applications, but will be particularly beneficial for our customers in northern climates conducting snow-removal activities,” says Warren Morris, AGCO tactical marketing manager for tractors under 150 HP.

The Deluxe cab is just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. All models also meet the newest Tier 4 Final emissions standards. For the new MF4609M and MF4610M models, this involved the addition of an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system to supplement the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and high-pressure common rail system.

“On the other hand, we removed the 80-HP MF4608 and introduced a new 70-HP model, the MF4607M,” Morris says. “This puts it below the 75-HP threshold, which allows us to build it to Tier 4 Final emission requirements without SCR components to achieve this level. This helps to keep the costs down for customers, but still gives them the features they need from a full utility tractor.”

Additional features available on all three new models include a new right-side console with a tray for storage and the engine rpm lever (previously on the dash panel). Each model also received a new engine rpm memory function. Ideally suited for PTO applications or transport, the feature includes an A and B preset position. Simply press and hold the button to activate a preset, and press the “rabbit” or “tortoise” insignia to increase or decrease engine speed.

“We also equipped the MF4607M with a larger steering cylinder, giving it the same system used on the MF4609M and MF4610M for better steering performance when using a loader,” says Morris. “Plus, we incorporated a larger oil cooler on all models for increased hydraulic cooling capacity and less heat buildup, particularly when operating a loader.

“The 4600 Series has always featured the strongest production 3-cylinder, off-road diesel engine in the industry,” he continues. “Now, we’ve just made the whole tractor even better.”
